The Egyptian Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sami Mahmoud and a delegation of tourist businesses, representatives of Egypt's airways have just paid a visit Vietnam and worked with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, and several Vietnamese tourist businesses and hotels about cooperative measures in tourism development and cooperation in attracting visitors between the two countries.
Sami Mahmoud made a statement that Egypt attracted some 15 million foreign visitors in 2010 and is among the most favorite tourist destinations in the world. In recent years, the number of Vietnamese tourists to Egypt has been on a rise. The convenient transportation via airway has created favorable conditions for Egypt to attract Vietnamese and other foreign tourists. However, Egypt tourism promotion activities have not been officially held in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, the General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism emphasized, “We admire tourism achievements that Egypt has obtained and the percentage of tourism sector's contribution in Egypt's economy which is 11 percent. Vietnam is a developing country and the needs on traveling have on a rise as domestic living standard has been increased. In the near future. Egypt will become a favorite destination for Vietnamese tourists”. Therefore, he suggested that the two countries will sign cooperative agreements to intensify cooperation and support each other in tourism promotion activities.
Sami Mahmoud added that Egypt will offer incentive policies to Vietnamese tourists including the simplification of visa procedures and air transport services. In addition, promotion programs offered by Egyptian airlines, hotels and travel agencies will create a momentum to attract foreign tourists.
