Traditional festivals in Vinh
Phuc province:
Mau Lan Festival
Time: The 12th day of the twelfth lunar month.
Location: Khai Quang Commune, Vinh Yen Town, Vinh Phuc
Province.
Objects of worship: The village's tutelary god.
Activities: Dance of offering to god, the rite of
battle sacrifice: two people cut off pig's head, take
pig's head to dance offering god (at night), mo dance
(thing symbolizing male and female genitals).
Traditional festivals in Hung Yen province:
Co Le Hamlet Festival
Time: The 10th day of the twelfth lunar month.
Location: Co Le Hamlet, An Thi District, Hung Yen Province.
Objects of worship: Village's tutelary gods - three
meritorious officials (Tuan, Chieu, Minh) in the reign
of Hung Due Vuong, who had merit of fighting Thuc
troops.
Activities: Singing and chess playing.
Traditional festivals in Ha Tay province:
Dinh Mai Festival
Time: The 20th day of the twelfth lunar month.
Location: Thanh Mai Commune, Thanh Oai District, Ha Tay
Province.
Objects of worship: Ha Khoi Royal Highest, who had merit
of assistant Dinh Bo Linh quelling vassal of Do Canh
Thac - who ruled Thanh Oai Region
Activities: Making sacrifice to the god, Chinese
chess, cock fighting.
Traditional festivals in Ha Tinh province:
My Duong Festival
Time: The 17th day of the twelfth lunar month.
Location: Xuan My Commune, Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh
Province.
Objects of worship: The village's tutelary god and
Mountain Genie.
Activities: Worshipping god of hunting by wild
beast (hunting guild is split in two groups: the water
procession is held by the first group on boat to Mong Ga
Mountain to worship Mountain Genie, the other procession
is held by the second group to go around the village.
Traditional festivals in Thua Thien - Hue province:
Thai Duong Festival
Time: 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month.
Location: Thai Duong Village, Thuan An Commune, Phu Vang
District, Thua Thien Hue Province.
Objects of worship: Goddess Thai Duong (miraculous
mystical stone).
Activities: Procession of the Goddess to Thai Duong
Shrine for making sacrifice gian.
