The third Trans-Asia Bridge Span Festival will be held in Quang Tri Province , from July 26 to 28, 2012.
This year’s Trans-Asia Bridge Span Festival features friendly cultural exchanges, advertisement about the land, people, potential and advantages of the provinces and countries in the East-West economic corridor.
The closing ceremony at the Cua Viet Beach will have art performances creating a connection of space with an infinite ocean between provinces on the inter-Asia line.
With the highlight of the 40th anniversary of the event “81 days and nights defending Quang Tri Ancient Citadel”, the festival space is expected to be decorated by 81 multi-coloured lanterns from the central monument to the the flower releasing location in the southern bank and the revolutionary martyr honour statue in the northern bank of Thach Han River. The opening and closing ceremony will feature special performances of art troupes from local provinces and cities, two provinces in Yunnan, Guang Xi (China) and countries in the East-West economic corridor, including Lao, Thailand and Myanmar.
In addition, the festival also has sporting activities such as volleyball and tennis competitions showing healthy spirit between Quang Tri and Savannakhet (Lao), Mukdahan, KhonKen, Nakhomphanom (Thailand), Quang Binh and Thua Thien Hue Provinces.
The festival, held every three years, is a traditional activity among Sub-Mekong River countries. The first was held in 2004 and the second took place in 2007. After two years of suspension, the third Trans-Asia Bridge Span Festival will come back this year. It is a good opportunity for the host province to introduce its economic progression, culture, society and tourist attractions to local and foreign visitors and investors./.
